Research Ethics Regulations

『Global Governance and Culture』 published by the Institute for Euro-African Studies (IEAS) at the Hanyang University has established the following ‘Regulations on Research Ethics’ to ensure quality control and the necessary professional standard of a high-quality research journal.

Chapter 1: Regulations on Research Ethics

  • Section 1. Research Ethics for Authors

    Article 1
    1. Authors should not replicate all or part of any research of others.
    2. Authors can cite and refer to the results of others’ research along with the sources.
    3. Authors should not distort the contents or results of research by fabricating research data, manipulating data.
    4. Authors should establish their credibility by revealing their affiliation and position when submitting and publishing a manuscript.
    Article 2

    Authors should not submit or publish their previously published works and should not submit the same research in duplicate anywhere.

    Article 3

    When the authors cite published academic materials, they should describe each accurately, and the source must be clearly identified. Data obtained through a personal source can be cited only after obtaining consent from the person who provided the data.

  • Section 2. Research Ethics for the Editors

    Article 4

    The editors are responsible for deciding whether to publish the manuscript submitted and will respect the independence of the author.

    Article 5

    The editors should consider manuscripts based on their quality and under the set regulations without discrimination.

    Article 6

    The editors should not disclose author information or the contents of manuscripts until the publication is affirmed.

  • Section 3. Research Ethics for the Reviewers

    Article 8

    Reviewers should faithfully evaluate the manuscripts within the period of time specified in the regulations and notify to the Editorial Committee.

    Article 9

    Reviewers should evaluate manuscripts based upon objective criteria, regardless of their personal academic beliefs or relationships with authors.

    Article 10

    When reviewers find out that manuscripts have already been published in other journals, or are being duplicated, or other issues, they should notify the Editorial Committee.

    Article 11

    The reviewers should maintain the confidentiality of authors.

Chapter 2 Research Ethics Implementation Guidelines

  • Article 1

    All members of Journal of 『Global Governance abd Culture』 should pledge to observe the Guidelines.

    Article 2

    When a member finds that another member has violated the Regulations on Research Ethics, the member should try to correct the problem by clarifying the regulations.

    Article 3

    The number of members on the Ethics Committee should be at least five and recommended by a member of the Steering Committee appointed by the Director of the IEAS.

    Article 4

    The Ethics Committee conducts a wide-ranging investigation on matters reported as violations of the Regulations on Research Ethics.

    Article 5

    Authors who have been reported for violating Regulations on Research Ethics should cooperate with investigations conducted by the Ethics Committee.

    Article 6

    The authors who are judged to be in violation of the Regulations on Research Ethics should be given an opportunity to challenge the allegations.

    Article 7

    The member of Ethics Committee should not disclose author information until the final disciplinary decision for violations of research ethics is made by the IEAS.

    Article 8

    The procedure of revision is in accordance with the IEAS regulation.

Additional Clause

  • 1. The regulations take effect from January first, 2021.
